Don't be ashamed...

http://amerrylife.com/2010/10/12/exposed-take-two/

"Don’t be ashamed of your body – it’s beautiful. That’s not a message we hear a lot in life. But if you think it’s beautiful, then it is. Beauty starts on the inside. It’s starts with your thoughts and your perspective, so replace the shameful feelings with pride in your body for what it can do. You body is YOURS and it’s deserving of respect and love for all the amazing things that it does." - Mary

Acceptance...

Lowell Herrero

Acceptance is the universal currency of real friendship. It does not warp or shape or wrench a person to be anything other than what they are.

Diversifying...

Heather from Fat Girl Posing by Mikel Allen

"I am not about getting rid of thin models, what I am about is diversifying our notion of beauty so that it is more inclusive because I feel at present there are so many people who suffer due to an unattainable beauty ideal." - Velvet D'amour

Fat People...

Fat Does Not Equal Ugly by *Sunnith
Fat people are not the ones with the problem, or who are in denial. Fat people are not in denial of being fat. We know we are fat, and in choosing fat acceptance, we accept ourselves exactly as we are, and we accept others exactly as they are. - Fat Heffalump

Every single human being, no matter what their size, colour or race is a beautiful creation. We shouldn’t embrace these false idealisms, and instead be happy with what and who we are. - David Heffer

Life is too short...

Rain by Michael Parkes

“Apologies should be saved for worthy occasions, like hurting someone’s feelings or using your roommate’s toothbrush on accident—not for existing. Life is too short. You can hate your body for all kinds of reasons; it’s a battle and a choice, to accept and embrace, or reject and hate. I know it’s more complicated than that, but to simplify things that’s how I feel, and right now I’m having fun!” - Beth Ditto

Love yourself today...

Creator: Unknown
“I think that when we look for love courageously, it reveals itself, and we wind up attracting even more love. If one person really wants us, everyone does. But if we're alone, we become even more alone. Life is strange.”  - Paulo Coelho

Preoccupation with weight...

Akzhana Abdalieva

A woman’s individual preoccupation with weight often serves as a mask for other, more intricate sources of discomfort, the state of one’s waistline being easier to contemplate than the state of one’s soul … how much self-acceptance she does or does not possess, how much pleasure she feels permitted to have, how much anxiety or guilt or shame her hungers arouse - these are the kinds of issues a woman may bring to the scale.

Fat, thin, anywhere in between...

BBW Magical Mermaid by curvygirlart

“Because fat, thin, anywhere in between. Everyone is beautiful and no one should ever have the right to tell you that you’re not.”  - from this

You are allowed...

Picture: Love (1944) by Ada Breedveld

“You are allowed to feel good in your skin, even when someone else can see a whole lot of it. You’re even allowed to leave the lights on. In fact, I encourage it.” - Live once, Juicy

Positive body image....

Zeewaardige Ontmoeting (1943) by Ada Breedveld
“Positive Body Image is not about creating an acceptable body ‘norm’ or about trying to make yourself look thinner, more beautiful, younger, or whatever. It’s not about trying to ‘hide’ or ‘make the best of’ who you are. That is called “Marketing”.

Because where bodies are concerned, there is no norm. Because we ARE ALL DIFFERENT! Which is what makes us REAL. And celebrating that difference is what positive Body Image is about.” - Samantha Thomas’ guest post on Fat Heffalump

You have to believe...

If your happiness....

Hilda by Duane Bryers

If your happiness depends solely on external possessions and circumstances, your boat, in the sea of life, will inevitably turn to the safety of the harbor over and over again and you will miss the joy of sailing towards the unknown. - Lucy MacDonald

Loving your body...

Jeanne Lorioz

“Loving your body and choosing healthy behaviors are two separate things. You don’t have to choose to make health a priority but if you do, (and even if you want to change the size and shape of your body) I think it’s easier to make choices that nurture your body if you start by loving and appreciating the body you have now. It’s pretty difficult to hate yourself healthy. I believe that those healthy habits are the best chance for health, whether or not they lead to long-term weight loss. If health isn’t a priority for you, there’s no reason that you can’t appreciate and love the body that you have and all the things that it does. In fact, I can’t think of a single circumstance in which hating my body would improve my situation.” - Ragen Chastain

Our deepest fear...

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Maryanne Williamson

We tend to forget...

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.

Don't rely on someone else for your happiness...

Leonard Nimoy’s “The Full Body Project”
“Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself - no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are - completely; the good and the bad - and make changes as YOU see fit - not because you think someone else wants you to be different.” —Stacey Charter

Know yourself...

Ada Breedveld

“Know yourself. You are the love of your own life. Love extravagantly–yourself and your chosen. Be kind. Do good work. Try to leave the world a bit better than it was before you got here. Laugh as often as possible. Be vast. Be miniscule beneath ancient stars. Don’t forget to sometimes run outside to grin foolishly at the moon.” - Bernadette Birney

Fat and Happy

Hello. My name is Starsha.

This is my first entry into my new blog.

The purpose of this blog is to pair artistic representations of fat with inspiring quotes. Some of the quotes will be directly related to fat, some won't. Some will be thought provoking and others will just be feel good. Whatever emotion that is created with them, I am hopeful that it will provide an experience in which some sort of learning can happen.

I have been doing this kind of thing on a parenting site and will probably use many of those here, as well as new ones, as I do my best to do a new one every day.
